Kennedy Center Set for Major Renaming to Trump-Kennedy Performing Arts Center, According to Administration Announcement.

The board of trustees of the prestigious performing arts venue has voted to change its name the Trump-Kennedy Center, according to a statement from the White House.
White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt declared online that the board's approval was consensus, crediting "the extraordinary job President Trump has done over the last year in rescuing the building."
"This is destined to be a truly great team long into the future! The building will no doubt attain new levels of success and grandeur," Leavitt continued.
The proposed move is likely to prove deeply divisive, notably in Washington, D.C., where the center has served as an architectural and cultural icon since its completion and dedication for President John F. Kennedy.
Background of the Center
Not long after beginning his term, President Donald Trump fired all the center's sitting board members and named loyalists in their stead. The reconstituted board then voted to appoint Trump as chairman.
The president helped procure approximately $257 million in appropriated money to cover significant upgrades and other financial needs at the aging venue.
Inception
The idea for a national performing arts center originated in the 1950s. Following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, the 35th president, in 1963, the planned venue was dedicated to his memory.
