Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City recently, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before sprint qualifying set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn before the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
